I’m so very proud and excited to celebrate my 3^rd Founders’ Day with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated! I am always in awe when I think of how these beautiful college-educated women, barely a generation away from slavery, built an organization that has become an international vehicle for the social mobilization of communities most in need. I always feel a little more inspired to keep fighting and working toward my goals on this special day. I have sweet memories of my grandmother taking me to a chapter meeting when I was a little girl. She promised me pizza as long as I behaved! I wonder if she knew the seeds she had planted.

I am always looking for a reason to wear pink & green, but on Founders’ Day, I don’t have to look very far! This year, I decided to channel the spring in winter vibes that Atlanta has been emanating and wear floral and pastels. I love the femininity of the pink & green color combo, so to play up the girlishness even more, I added the pale pink rhinestone Kate Spade pumps as my shoe selection. Ripped jeans provided just a hint of edginess for balance. I put this outfit together in under 10 minutes! Honestly, that’s when I do my best work: when I have limited time to really think about it.
