This👏🏾Mural👏🏾! ! ! Just when I thought Atlanta could not get any better, The Painter Bae and Nikia Phoenix curate a colorful tapestry of brown girl love right in the heart of Peters Street—one of the meccas of black business in the ATL metro area! I first learned of the mural months ago (thanks IG!) when it was originally revealed. I knew it was only a matter of time before my girl Tina 📸 and I dawned this very sidewalk and created a #blackgirlpixiedust photo op of our own! I absolutely love how the images turned out and I hope this mural is here to stay!
In a world where Our idioms, fashion, hairstyles, music, and traditions are seen as ‘ghetto’ or ‘less than’ unless adopted (and monetized) by mainstream media, I am so grateful for this massive edifice of a reminder of what we already know! I’m so proud to be apart of a time when we wear our hair as big as we want and tell corporate America to deal! A time when we show up and show out with our culture on level 10 no matter the occasion (i.e. Gospel Choir at the Royal Wedding!🙌🏾) A time when black bloggers keep creating bomb content and never stop working to get the same pay and opportunities as women of other ethnicities. Sending love to All women and especially my Sistas who just don’t care what mainstream beauty standards say (even in 2019!) We are all kinds of cocoa butter, shea oil, cinnamon twist, perfectly melanated kinds of beautiful! Let us never stop building each other up💖
You can find this mural at 333 Peters Street on the side of Peters Street Station in Atlanta, GA!
