Making The Neutrals In Your Wardrobe More Interesting

Making The Neutrals In Your Wardrobe More Interesting

Neutrals. They never have to be boring. Last month we discussed how to wear color flawlessly. This week, it’s all about the neutrals. I have strayed away from the beige and brown color family for so long because I much prefer more vibrant hues. I used to think wearing tones from the more muted color wave lacked interest, imagination, and depth.

I was wrong. Since moving to NYC, I’ve been very much so inspired by the grit and grind of the city. My wardrobe has, in turn, become a bit edgier. Cue the neutral tones.

I wanted to play up my edgier style, but without losing me. Over the past year, I have definitely been up for the challenge and developed ways to spice up the neutrals I recently welcomed into my wardrobe.

ADD A POP OF COLOR

Ha! I had to ease my way in, y’all. Again, a dab will do ya. A pop of color is a fun element of surprise and can top off any look perfectly.

THE LOEWE BELT

All the fashion girls have one. They come in quite a few colors, but my fave is the tan. This belt is pure fire and the neutral on neutral is just so fun to play with. Instant edgy chic vibe with this belt.

ACCESSORIZE

Adding an accented accessory like a hat, bag, jewelry in the same color wave is always a nice touch. I saw this leather Brooklyn bucket hat when I was shopping one day near Canal Street.  Just knew I had to have it. I had no idea how I would style it at the time, but I love how this look turned out.

COLOR BLOCK

One of my favorite ways to dress. Again, neutral on neutral but in various mixed shades is *chef’s kiss.

I hope you all enjoyed these tips! I’ve had so much fun dressing up the neutrals in my wardrobe. I hope this post encourages you all to do the same. I’m DONE with my second and FINAL IM rotation, y’all!! More reflections on that later. I’m hopping a flight tonight and will wake up tomorrow in #myATL. I hope y’all have the best weekend. It’s heavy on living the soft life over here.

xx,
