Anya Bazzell is a Fashion & Lifestyle Blogger + Medical Doctor who shares all about colorful fashion, city living, and motivation for aspiring physicians. Boston-born and Georgia-raised, Anya moved back to Boston for undergrad at Boston University where she fell in love with the hustle and bustle that is city life. After weathering several 10-inch snow winters, she returned to Atlanta, GA to attend graduate school and to, ultimately, earn her Doctorate of Medicine degree. During her studies, she also spent a brief sabbatical in NYC, underscoring her affection for the city! And there in her brother’s Brooklyn studio, Surgery And The City was born.
Anya has always been a true creative at heart, but she began to sacrifice much of her creative time and space to pursue her medical degree. Ever missing photography, painting, and self-expression through her colorful looks, Anya decided to take the plunge and start her blog as a 2nd Year medical student. Even though she was in the midst of circumstances that were far from perfect, Anya believes this is still one of the best decisions she has ever made. For the rest of med school, she had to shoot content early before clinic and hide in hospital stairwells to make her scheduled posts (and shop the newest fashion drops!), but she always got the job done!
In her downtime, Anya enjoys leisurely reading her way through period novels, binge watching “Living Single,” and partaking in hilariously endearing conversations with her Mom. You will usually find Anya online shopping for a new colorful fit, studying for her next board exam, and encouraging the next generation of physicians. Anya is now a Resident Physician in New York City where she is bringing color to the concrete jungle and fully living out the name of her brand.
